A major restoration project was recently completed on one of Moscow’s historic buildings, tha Mezenat Club Palace. Situated a stone’s throw from Red Square, it was built in the 18th Century by the Bologna-born architect Francesco Camporesi, who played an active role in the court of Catherine II. Friulparchet, a producer of wood flooring based in San Giorgio di nogaro (Udine Italy), was awarded the contract after a lengthy international selection procedure for the supply and installation of the flooring, in line with the original plans and the rigorous restoration standards set by the Russian Ministry of Culture. This was a major contract, which represented a formidable challenge for the company’s technicians and craftsmen, in terms of both the type and extent of the designs commissioned. in just 3 months, 2800 sq. m of flooring were laid in 22 mm solid oak with 8 different decorative patterns, adhering to the measurements that were used at the time of the palace’s construction, which were not expressed in centimetres. The design were re-drafted by one of Russia’s most famous architects, Grigori Mudrov, who supervised all the design and execution phases step by step.
